NAJID Privacy Policy

This policy describes how personal data is processed in the NAJID mobile app, published by M. FERIANI, and on this informational website.

1. Identity and contact

NAJID is a mobile application published by M. FERIANI, based at Cours des Bastions 13, 1205 Genève, Suisse. For privacy enquiries or requests to exercise your rights, contact contact@najidgroup.com. The application is distributed as NAJID (Android package: com.gemartlabs.najid).

2. Data processed

Depending on your role (pilgrim, guide or agency administrator), NAJID may process account information (name, contact details, identifier, role and agency affiliation), travel and group information, messages, meeting points and assistance requests, a one-time GPS position when requesting help, and technical information necessary to operate and secure the service.

3. Location data

NAJID assistance does not require background location tracking. When a pilgrim taps “I have lost my group”, the app may request foreground location access, obtain their current position and share it with their agency and authorized guides to handle the request. If permission is denied or location cannot be obtained, assistance may be limited. Location permission may be withdrawn in device settings.

4. Purposes and legal bases

Data is used to manage accounts, trips, groups and meeting points; display maps; forward assistance requests; enable relevant communication; maintain security; and meet legal requirements. Depending on context, the legal bases may include providing the service, legitimate security interests, legal obligations and consent where required, including for location access.

5. Recipients and service providers

The relevant agency and its authorized guides can access information necessary to assist their pilgrims. The NAJID website and backend infrastructure are hosted by Infomaniak Network SA in Switzerland. Other technical providers (transactional email, mapping and maintenance) may process the data needed to provide their services. Locations are not published openly. We do not sell pilgrim contact or location information to advertisers.

6. Retention and deletion

Account information is retained while an account is active and deleted after a verified deletion request, except where lawful retention is required. GPS coordinates provided for an assistance request are deleted from active systems as soon as the request is closed; the agency and its guides then lose access to them. Assistance history may retain request status, timestamps and messages, but not GPS coordinates. Other trip, appointment and assistance information is kept only for as long as necessary to manage the service. Backups may remain temporarily according to their technical rotation cycle, subject to applicable legal requirements.

7. Security and international transfers

Organizational and technical safeguards are intended to limit access to authorized users and guides, protect communications and prevent unauthorized access. Any transfer across borders must be subject to safeguards required by applicable law, including the Swiss FADP and, where relevant, the GDPR.

8. Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and, in certain circumstances, portability. To request deletion of your NAJID account, use our dedicated account deletion page. You may also contact the relevant data protection authority.

9. Website and changes

This informational site does not require an account. The hosting provider may process necessary connection data for operation and security. We may update this policy to reflect service changes, and the update date is shown above.
